Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizenswith God’s people and also members of his household
Time Period: February - April
OKS Bible school cooperates closely with our three church departments in Oslo and Akershus; Romerrikskirken, Groruddalskirken and Citykirken. This way you get practical insight into building the church.
- What is church?
Here we reset ourselves and go back to the roots and birth of the New Testament church. We allow Gods word to redefine the foundational truths about the identity and purpose of the church, and we explore how this may look in our time.
- The local church
We believe that the church is the hope and rescue of the world. We believe that it has got a mission to make Jesus Christ visible and available to the local people of cities and places all around. We want to give you the faith and conviction that Gods major plan is being realized and actualized today through the local church.
- Church planting
In this topic we focus on how to - from scratch on - plant a church with the purpose of winning people over to Christ and make disciples. OKS have been involved in several church plants in the past. In no way does this entitle us to be experts, however we want to share with you valuable experience. You will get to listen to both pastors and church planters, domestic and from abroad.
- Church building – and growth
We believe that what is healthy will grow, and therefore in this topic we emphasize what we believe to be a healthy church culture; how it will build the church and create growth. We allow Gods word to define our guiding vision and values.
- Church and ministry
Jesus did not say that he came to build his Bible school, but that he would build his church. Therefore one major task for the Bible school is to inspire and equip you to make a difference in church. We address the contents of servanthood and how your serving can develop and make a difference to people through participation, involvement, teamwork and co-working in church.
- Kids & Youth ministry
Through this teaching we show you why and how we emphasize Sunday school ministry and youth ministry in church. We are concerned with building cornerstones into the lives of these young people. Our focus is to give needed support and help for today, but also for the future!
- The ministry of reconciliation
2. Cor. 5, 18-21 talks about the fact that God reconciled himself with all the world, and now he has entrusted to us the ministry of reconciliation. Jesus finished work of salvation is not that God shows people an invoice stating how much they owe him, but the exact opposite: God shows people a receipt stating how much Jesus Christ has paid for them. Here we focus on being fishermen of people and soulwinners who invite people to come home to God.
This topic is all about being a church in our present contemporary culture – the culture in which we are Gods ambassadors. The culture in which we live shape our expression and language in communicating the gospel to modern people of today. It is not about making the gospel relevant. It is about showing people how relevant it is!
- Church history
In this topic we study exciting and crucially determining events from church history that still shape our present situation of today! We reflect upon what these events can teach us about church and faith today.
